Wattway
Wattway is the first photovoltaic road surface in the world.
Solar collectors of a new kind, Wattway tiles amaze you with their extreme finesse (a few millimeters thick) and the impression of solidity that emanates from them. Both very thin and resistant, photovoltaic tiles are glued to the existing coating of roads, cycle paths, car parks, etc., without the need for major civil engineering work. Wattway has the advantage of producing electrical energy without encroaching on agricultural land and natural landscapes. Each slab is made up of classic photovoltaic cells that transform solar energy into electricity. Extremely fragile, these cells are encased in a multi-layered substrate made up of resins and polymers, translucent enough to let sunlight through and tough enough to withstand vehicular traffic. As for the surface in contact with vehicle wheels, it is treated to provide a grip equivalent to that of traditional road mixes.
