Meet State of Place - your "in-house data-geek" and champion for more walkable, livable places.
State of Place quantifies why people are drawn to live, work, and play in places - based on 290+ urban, street-level amenities. We pull this “micro-scale” data together into an easy to understand index, scoring from 0-100, and sub-indices measuring 10 areas of performance. These ten urban design dimensions, including a community’s urban fabric (form, density, and connectivity, destinations (proximity, parks and public spaces, and recreational facilities), human needs & comfort (pedestrian & bicyclist amenities, and traffic safety), and liveliness and maintenance (aesthetics and personal safety), have been empirically linked to people’s behaviors, decisions, feelings, and perceptions about places.
