The bylaw establishes landfill diversion targets for wooden materials at demolition sites. The initial phase requires compliance by projects replacing pre-1960 homes with single-family homes. Demolition projects clearing pre-1960 homes for single-family and multi-family properties are subject to the bylaw starting in May 2025. Each permit approved from September 2023 includes a fee that is fully refunded once material recovery targets are hit.
