Boise, ID planned to improve city building security
Terminé
Boise City Hall planned a $52,000 investment in facial recognition software to improve security by identifying individuals banned from entering the premises. The city signed a $31,000 contract with CompuNet and was going to spend $21,000 building a server to house the program.
Marge d'amélioration
Boise Mayor Dave Bieter pulled the plug and the plan was overhauled after concerns were raised about the technology’s ethics and efficacy. Other cities have already banned the software and a federal bill banning the use of facial recognition in public buildings was recently proposed.
