Cornwall Council, GB adds to renewable energy portfolio with a new wind turbine and battery

Cornwall Council, GB Wind Turbine Battery Renewable Energy

Complete

The 2.3-megawatt turbine is the first in Cornwall to be connected to a smart grid. Electricity from the turbine is distributed based on current energy requirements. Council officials estimate that the turbine can power 1,180 homes every year. A 1-megawatt battery built by Centrica provides backup power in case the area grid falters. These developments will help the council achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
