Greater Manchester Combined Authority, GB begins CYCLOPS project to protect walkers and cyclists
Greater Manchester Combined Authority, GB CYCLOPS Walk Cycle
Thirty intersections in Greater Manchester were outfitted with Cycle Optimised Protected Signals (CYCLOPS). Each intersection marks dedicated cycling and pedestrian spaces with green lanes. Traffic signals are timed to allow right turns by bikes without creating conflicts with motor vehicles. CYCLOPS is part of the authority's Bee Network, a 2,400-intersection infrastructure project that encourages alternatives to motor vehicle use across the region.
