SharedStreets is a project lead by the Open Transport Partnership to develop a shared digital language for the street. This project builds open source software, digital infrastructure, and governance frameworks that enable the seamless exchange of transport data.
The city is identifying five street rehabilitation projects which will integrate smart technology. The technology being considered includes power strips that charge electric vehicles, traffic lights synced to traffic flow, and high-efficiency diode streetlights with sensors.
Portland plans to launch a year-long pilot of the Replica software by Sidewalk Labs. This will give Portland access to a massive dataset that mirrors how people actually move throughout the city and its surroundings. The goal is to better understand how people travel in Portland.
