Glenorchy, TAS develops its Urban Tree Strategy with the help of resident feedback on EngagementHQ

Glenorchy, TAS Urban Tree Strategy Resident Feedback

In Progress

The centerpiece of the campaign is an interactive map accessible by registered EngagementHQ users. Residents indicate their favorite trees, areas in need of additional canopy, and suggestions for community planting events with map pins. A quick survey seeks snap decisions on existing tree inventories with a more substantial survey available for comments. Glenorchy will incorporate this feedback when developing a draft of a 10-year plan for its urban tree canopy.

Urban Trees in Glenorchy | Let’s Talk, Glenorchy

When you're walking to the park on a hot day can you find a cool tree to rest under? Having the right trees in the right places is important for our city. Trees provide multiple benefits including shade, beauty, clean air, human health and well-being, flood reduction and food and homes for wildlife – just to name a few. There can also be downsides to having trees particularly in urban environments where there may be many different users occupying a small space. Council is developing its first urban tree strategy to provide direction for the management of trees on Council land in the urban area of the City of Glenorchy. To help us develop our urban tree strategy, we want to know what you think. What are your priorities when it comes to trees in our urban areas? When you’re out and about this summer, take a moment to look around so you can tell us about your favourite trees, in our streets, playgrounds, parks and reserves. Register to drop a pin and a comment on the map, or to complete the survey. Don't want to register? Then take the quick poll.
