Saskatoon, SK begins one-year electric bus pilot to determine viability of full fleet conversion

Saskatoon, SK One-Year Electric Bus Pilot Viability

In Progress

Saskatoon Transit leased an electric bus with an eye toward purchasing up to 10 buses per year starting in 2022. The bus can travel up to 450 miles per charge with a dedicated charging station at the Civic Operations Centre. Transit officials estimate an emissions reduction of 50 tons of carbon during the pilot. Replacing the entire fleet with electric buses would mean lifetime savings of $300,000 per vehicle and a 5,130-ton emission reduction per year.
