General and eco-friendly public projects were proposed by Shawinigan residents. Finalists in each category offered at least three years of public use with costs of at least $15,000 CAD. City residents aged 18 years and older voted for their favorite projects in each category. Shawinigan funded up to $200,000 for the general improvement winner and $50,000 for the green project. The first budget vote funded the renovation of 105th Avenue and an arboretum at Parc de la Rivière-Grand-Mère.
Project Succeeded
The 2019 round of participatory budgeting received votes from 1,095 residents, while the 2020 edition garnered votes from 1,012 residents.
