Townsville, QLD expands its disaster response capabilities with new sensors and cameras
Townsville, QLD Sensors Cameras Disaster Response
Townville distributed 45 sewer sensors, 27 flood sensors, and six cameras throughout the city. This network provides real-time monitoring of water and sewer conditions to expedite emergency responses. Data from the sensor network also factor into public works projects that respond to increased water and sewer use. A state inspector general report recommended these upgrades after reviewing local government responses to the 2019 monsoon season.
