Tucson, AZ 4G LTE Network Digital Divide
In Progress
City officials are using existing fiber lines to provide 4G LTE services to 32,000 households. The network transmits on an unlicensed spectrum band from 40 towers across a range of 44 square miles. The first phase of municipal 4G connects 1,000 low-income households with children to remote schooling, telehealth, and work. Tucson plans enhanced connectivity in public places and mobile phone service in the later stages of the project.
