Vancouver, WA partners with community services provider on mental health intervention pilot
Vancouver, WA Mental Health Intervention Pilot
The Vancouver Police Department and Sea Mar will employ three mental health responders as part of the nine-month pilot. Responders are on-call during high volumes of 911 calls to help police assist with crisis interventions. Each call leads to immediate care by the responder with follow-up care and evaluations from Sea Mar. City officials pursued the pilot to de-escalate minor altercations and eliminate silos between social services and the justice system.
