Winnipeg, MB initiates a drone trial to improve the efficiency of fire service responses

Winnipeg, MB Drone Trial Fire Service Efficiency Responses

In Progress

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) used a drone for 40 incident responses during the pilot period. The drone holds thermal imaging equipment that locates fire sources in case of heavy smoke or physical obstructions. Drone operators were able to use aerial footage to direct fire hoses, locate victims, and provide intelligence to response teams. WFPS personnel saw decreases in property damage and department resources used to suppress fires.
