The county-run utility department is the council's first step in establishing a microgrid system. The county is currently searching for a consultant to help find candidates for developing and operating the microgrids. The develop-operator who would serve as the day-to-day energy provider to local businesses while the microgrid would provide a back-up energy supply during outages.
