Southland District Council has transitioned to a completely electronic process for building consents. The first phase of the transition involved using the Simpli online portal as a customer interface for users to complete and submit building consent forms. The second phase implemented the GoGet software to enable the Council's building solutions team to process electronic building consent applications.

Southland Regional Council, NZ Emergency Management Southland's award-winning Project AF8 program

Emergency Management Southland, established by four Southland Councils, developed the Project AF8 program due to the potential of an Alpine Fault earthquake event. The program was designed to raise awareness of this issue with scientific modeling. Project AF8 helped Councils in the region plan a coordinated response and provide ongoing engagement to increase the community's resilience.
