Suffolk County Council, GB develops virtual reality application for residents with dementia
Suffolk County Council approved a contract with Spark for a VR application dedicated to dementia care. The Digital Care Team will turn ideas from care providers and the community into engaging virtual activities. A prototype of the app will be tested in at-home and care home settings with feedback used for further development. This project uses £80,000 from the Suffolk 2020 Fund and complements existing dementia care tools like AV theme rooms.

Cassius was introduced in 2021 as a customized technology suite for senior residents. Social care staffers provide feedback so that selected technologies best serve patient needs. County officials are working with Alcove, Provide CIC, and Rethink Partners on a three-year rollout of additional technologies. The Norfolk and Suffolk Innovation Network gathers real-time data on council operations from 220 IoT gateways. East Suffolk District Council, GB pilot provides temporary housing to reduce hospitalizations
East Suffolk District Council partnered with numerous local Councils and organisations to launch the "Stepping Home" pilot project. The goal of "Stepping Home" is to reduce housing-related hospital admissions and delayed discharges. The project provides temporary housing to individuals with a housing need that puts them at imminent risk for hospitalization or prevents them from being discharged. In the first two weeks, the pilot project enabled 42 patients to be successfully discharged.
