Joondalup and Wanneroo started the project with drone flights over a section of Lake Joondalup. Aerial imagery resulted in a 3D map that envisions where environmental sensors are needed. Installed sensors throughout the 1,400-hectare wetland would monitor nutrient balances, pollutants, and midge populations. The councils will use the smart monitoring network for the protection of sensitive areas and public education efforts.
