Austin, TX experiments with different layouts and features for its Resilience Hub Network

Austin, TX Resilience Hub Network Experiment Layout Features

En curso

Local officials are building a network of community hubs in the wake of 2021's winter emergency and 2022's extreme heat. Six pilot locations will be operational throughout the city by the end of 2022. The pilot evaluates sustainable features including on-site battery storage and rainwater harvesting. Resilience Hubs may also house accessible restrooms, community gardens, and event spaces for neighborhood use when not activated for emergencies.

Why are Resilience Hubs important? When disasters strike, people across Austin need trusted community spaces to meet basic needs. When paired with ongoing emergency planning, disaster response, and sheltering plans, a Resilience Hub Network can help provide relief during extreme weather events and other emergencies.
