Manchester City Council, GB builds a district heating network on the way to zero-emissions future

Manchester City Council, GB District Heating Network

Completado

The Civic Quarter Heat Network uses a 3.3-megawatt engine and two 12-megawatt gas boilers to generate energy. Underground cables deliver electricity to seven buildings including Town Hall and the Manchester Art Gallery. Recovered heat from electrical generation reaches networked buildings via underground pipes. The network is designed for future additions that increase energy efficiency. This project contributes to Manchester's goal of a 50% emissions cut by 2025.
