AI improves waste services without dedicated programmers

York County deployed two AI tools without dedicated programming staff. The first is a website tool that accepts resident addresses — even with misspellings — and returns personalized trash and recycling pickup schedules, built in hours. The second uses AI to review sewer inspection video footage, automatically identifying cracks and defects and eliminating days of manual staff review.
