Brantford, ON measures environmental impacts of its operations with the climate lens assessment tool
Brantford developed its own calculator for estimating emissions from municipal projects following a 2019 climate emergency declaration. The community housing and public works teams tested the tool during an 18-month pilot. Evaluations of completed and planned projects through an environmental lens were added to new sections in staff reports. The climate and environmental implications section will be used in all future staff reports to committees, task forces, and the city council.

The City of Brantford completely digitized their onboarding process for new employees. The city's Human Resources and Information Technology departments implemented this new on-boarding process without a budget or external consulting assistance. The digitized process was developed in response to in-person meetings being eliminated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This award-winning transformation is projected to save the city over $200,000 annually in staff time.

Brantford City Council unanimously approved mandatory face coverings in enclosed public indoor spaces. The City Council also approved $20,000 in spending to provide face coverings for vulnerable members of the community. The City is partnering with local volunteer organisations including Neighbourhood Associations, the Salvation Army, and the Brantford Food Bank to distribute an estimated 3,000 face coverings to those in need.

The City of Brantford partnered with the CNIB Foundation to launch the "No Dark Doors" project. The goal of the project was to improve accessibility for blind or visually impaired residents. The CNIB Foundation installed wayfinding technology compatible with the BlindSquare mobile app throughout the City. The app communicates with the small battery-powered beacons through Bluetooth to provide users with navigational information.

These one-time discounts apply to six city-owned facilities which includes the local golf course, museum, visitor centre, family park, performing arts centre, and sports centre.
