eThekwini, KZN produces Durban Business Confidence Index for understanding of economic conditions
eThekwini, the Durban Chamber of Commerce, and the University of KwaZulu-Natal surveyed city businesses in Q3 2022. This survey asked about daily operational concerns and confidence about the economy in the next quarter. Survey responses resulted in a score of 35.47 on a scale from 0 for lack of confidence to 100 for extreme confidence. Quarterly updates to the DBCI will inform economic policies and support programs from the project partners.

Municipal officials spent three years designing what they refer to as their single source of truth. The Strategic Hub houses dashboards on topics like road crashes, social sentiments, and property trends. A Livability Index scores each suburb's livability based on metrics in nine categories like education and transportation. The Greenbook Metro View supports comparisons of eThekwini's multi-dimensional vulnerabilities to 212 other local governments in South Africa.

eThekwini, KZN launched the Innovation Co-Lab to revolutionize the local business community
The eThekwini Municipality launched the Innovation Co-Lab to revolutionize the local business community. The lab will provide disadvantaged communities with access to technology, digital training, and technical experts. The online classes offered include software, design thinking, coding, and robotics. This lab was created as the result of collaborative efforts between the Municipality, the Department of Science and Innovation, Technology Innovation Agency, and members of the private sector.
