Leicester City Council, GB Graduate City Programme pairs university students with paid internships
Leicester, De Montfort University, and the University of Leicester partnered on the initiative for second-year students. Project leaders found most of the 500 businesses contacted about the initiative never recruited local university students. Participating students worked paid internships lasting six weeks at small businesses in high-growth industries. The LGCP revealed job opportunities for young professionals and opened talent pipelines to growing enterprises.
