Mount Gambier, SA responds to blue-green algae growth in Valley Lake with ultrasonic wave pilot
Mount Gambier and Photon Water deployed two floats with water quality equipment during the winter. A four-month testing period identified algae hotspots that would render the lake unsuitable for recreational use. The next stage of the program will combine ultrasonic wave treatments with water testing from September 2022 through March 2023. Ultrasonic wave technology offers an inexpensive method for algae removal that does not affect people, animals, or vegetation.
