Onkaparinga, SA Recycled Glass Plastic Resurfaced Roads

A stretch of road in the suburb was repaved using 265 tons of an innovative asphalt mix. The council worked with Downer, Close the Loop, and RED Group to formulate a surface that can withstand daily use. This mixture combined repurposed asphalt with recycled glass bottles, plastic bags, and toner cartridges. Onkaparinga's recycled asphalt project was the first in the South Australian state.
