Vernon, BC works with Sensenet and the University of British Columbia on wildfire detection pilot
Vernon, BC Sensenet University Wildfire Detection Pilot
Vernon's Fire Rescue Services team currently relies on patrols and resident sightings for its wildfire response. Sensenet and UBC researchers will test a network of 100 fire detection sensors in high-risk areas of the city. Real-time measurements of carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and temperature feed into an AI-enabled risk assessment system accessible by local officials. The two-year pilot evaluates the impacts of IoT assets on response times and false alarms.
