Baltimore, MD collaborates with public schools on school-based violence prevention pilots
Baltimore, MD Public Schools Violence Prevention Pilots
Three schools were selected for the Spring 2023 program based on arrest numbers, disciplinary actions, and school resources. Each school hosts three in-house violence interrupters trained by a local nonprofit on conflict mediation. Interrupters partner with staff on incorporating life skills and wellness lessons into classroom instruction. The Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement will also pay weekly stipends to eight student ambassadors at each school.
