Kitchener, ON Full-Service Sidewalk Shoveling Pilot
The city council approved the use of city workers and contractors to clear 40 kilometers of residential sidewalks during the winter season. Contractors were sent to Stanley Park, while public works employees were assigned to Victoria Park. Shovelers cleared sidewalks after snowfalls of at least 8 centimeters. The pilot ensured sidewalks were cleared within 24 hours as required by law. Resident survey participation was encouraged through gift card drawings.
