Melbourne, VIC addresses challenges for the homeless population with Make Room initiative
Melbourne, VIC Make Room Homeless Challenges Initiative
City officials approved Make Room in the face of housing limitations and a sizeable homeless population. A former utility building on Little Bourke Street will be converted into fully supported accommodations by 2023. Unison Housing was selected to handle the day-to-day operations of 50 studio apartments, community spaces, and on-site services. Each Make Room resident will receive personalized guidance toward permanent housing and social service providers.
