Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, GB Shared Lives Pilot

Barnsley's Housing Options Team worked with residents on the brink of homelessness during the one-year pilot. Participants received up to 12 weeks of assistance with leasing applications, budgeting, and health referrals. The council recruited Shared Lives carers to house participants until long-term housing options were arranged. The Shared Lives program created support networks for those with housing insecurity and reduced temporary shelter use.
