Ealing began with a trial of NexGen Heating infrared ceiling panels in 25 council homes. Individual room control over panels reduces energy waste compared to whole-home heating. A pilot with Energiesprong adds external insulation, rooftop solar panels, and air-source heat pumps for consistent climate control in 68 homes. The most recent pilot involves the installation of AirEx sub-floor air bricks for smart ventilation management in 50 homes.

London Borough of Ealing, GB is introducing nine Low Traffic Neighbourhoods on residential streets

London Borough of Ealing is introducing nine Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) to discourage and minimise traffic in residential streets bordered by main roads. The LTNs are designed to limit through-traffic, reduce air pollution, decrease the number of vehicle collisions, and increase community activity. The range of measures being implemented at the LTNs include bollards, speed humps, double yellow lines, cycle parking, reduced speed limits, etc.

London Borough of Ealing, GB installed electric vehicle charging points into existing street lights

London Borough of Ealing has installed SimpleSockets, environmentally-friendly charging points, into more than 60 existing street lights for residents. The charging points are powered by 100% green electricity and provide drivers with a quick and easy opportunity to power their electric cars. The Council installed these charging points to encourage residents to switch to electric vehicles without taking up any extra space on the road.

London Borough of Ealing developed the Ealing Connects program to support community crowdfunding campaigns. The Council hosted a workshop to teach residents how to pitch their ideas and turn them into successful crowdfunding campaigns. The program was designed to encourage residents to generate and fund ideas that improved local life. Ealing Connects rewarded campaigns which aimed to transform local spaces with up to £10,000 toward their crowdfunding goal.

The financial support webinars were organised by the Council in partnership with Business Improvement Districts and Branduin Business Support Ltd. The workshops were designed to train businesses on locating funding opportunities and preparing competitive applications.

London Borough of Ealing, GB London Taxicard service helps vulnerable residents during pandemic

London Borough of Ealing partnered with Transport for London to jointly fund the London Taxicard scheme. The Taxicard service was altered in order to provide support to vulnerable residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Until the end of August 2020, residents can book the Taxicard service to collect essential items for themselves or use the taxi to collect essential groceries or medications for a family member.
