Tamworth Regional, NSW installs Flood Early Warning System for Nundle and Woolomin residents

Council leaders worked with Water Technology on a flow monitoring system between the two communities. A water gauge in Duncans Creek provides information on current conditions in the Peel River catchment. The system synthesizes sensor data and Bureau of Meteorology forecasts into an ongoing assessment of flood risk. Nundle and Woolomin residents can subscribe to text messages activated by moderate to severe flood estimates.

Tamworth Regional, NSW engages in IoT integration pilot that connects personal and public realms

The pilot leverages existing Wi-Fi and smart assets for a citywide integration of services. A local resident accesses an app to monitor real-time electricity usage and determine the impacts of individual appliance use. Project partner UNSW Sydney wants to extend app access beyond utilities with services ranging from parking to virtual health services. If successful, this Australian-first IoT integration roadmap could be replicated in other communities.
