Berkeley, CA reforming zoning policies affordable housing
The Berkeley City Council is working to overturn restrictive zoning policies to help promote racial equity in the community. The Council passed a resolution to launch a zoning reform process that remove single-family restrictions and legalize buildings with four units of housing. Legalizing fourplexes will allow older adults to subdivide their homes and provide opportunities for lower-income residents to move into more expensive neighborhoods.
