The borough gathers monthly data on nitrogen dioxide and particulates from 150 diffusion tube monitors. Four automated stations allow officials and residents to view real-time air quality on a network map. The new additions are placed near streets with heavy pedestrian traffic to evaluate the health impacts of tailpipe emissions. Borough officials adopted automated stations to confirm recent declines in emissions and inform future environmental policies.
