Toulouse, OCC becomes first European city to accept crypto for metro payments

Toulouse has become the first European city to accept cryptocurrency payments for public transit, allowing passengers to use Bitcoin and over 70 altcoins to purchase tickets via the Tisséo app starting March 17, 2025. This initiative, a collaboration between Tisséo, fintech firm Lyzi, and Binance, aims to modernize payment systems. Payments are instantly converted to euros to shield Tisséo from crypto volatility.
