Williamsburg, VA partners with Verizon on free broadband pilot in Highland Park neighborhood
Williamsburg, VA Free Broadband Pilot Verizon Neighborhood
The city selected Highland Park due to its size and proximity to Verizon's wireless network equipment. Participants receive routers from local contractors to access no-cost broadband in their homes. The six-month pilot evaluates benefits and challenges for a citywide broadband network using existing infrastructure rather than new fiber. Williamsburg also pursued this connectivity trial to help residents stay connected during COVID-19.
