Canterbury Regional Council, NZ seeks answers on nitrogen dioxide pollution with air quality study
Canterbury Regional Council, NZ Air Quality Study Pollution
The national HAPINZ 3.0 study found that 2,000 New Zealanders died from nitrogen dioxide pollution in 2016. Council leaders approved a three-month air quality pilot across Timaru. Eighteen diffusion tubes were installed near high-traffic roads and residential areas for accurate measurement of the human-made pollutant. Monthly analysis of nitrogen dioxide concentrations provides valuable data for future mitigation efforts by the council.
