Indianapolis, IN empowers low-income families to achieve energy independence with solar pilot
Indianapolis, IN Low-Income Solar Pilot Energy Independence
The city's Office of Sustainability works with Solar United Neighbors to equip 20 families with solar panels. Selected families receive equipment and installation for free along with information about the long-term benefits of solar power. This pilot helps low-income families reduce their energy costs and potentially receive credits for excess energy sent to the grid. City officials followed the Thrive Indianapolis plan's goals of poverty reduction and capacity building when designing the pilot.
