The council worked with Smart City Solutions to install smart waste bins in Ardrie Park and Prahran Square. The bins use solar-powered compactors to create additional space for waste. Council personnel receives messages from the bins when service is required. This pilot generates data on daily usage, service requirements, and performance helpful for future initiatives. Stonnington added the bins as part of a broader campaign to increase recycling in public places.
