Fifty sensors throughout the city center count mobile phones using Wi-Fi connections. City officials analyze data trends for resident safety during COVID-19 as well as long-term traffic and public service management. The sensor network protects user privacy by anonymizing data and clearing storage every other day. Breda's Smart City Project used smaller deployments of Wi-Fi sensors during pilots over the previous five years.
