Warrington Borough Council, GB estimates the impacts of building retrofits with digital twin

Warrington, Pure Leapfrog, and IES developed a digital twin covering the borough's 70 square miles. Data from the council and the Energy Performance Certificate system resulted in 29 area models. The digital twin built from these models shows residential buildings' use, age, and utility infrastructure. The IES Intelligent Community Information Model allows borough officials to identify the optimal retrofit for each building based on basic, intermediate, and full retrofit scenarios.

Warrington Borough Council, GB and GRIDSERVE achieve energy self-sufficiency for council operations

The borough and GRIDSERVE developed the 88-acre Cirencester Hybrid Solar Farm to power an all-electric bus fleet starting in 2023. This 23 MWp facility is the largest of its kind in the United Kingdom. This partnership previously acquired a solar site in Hull for all of the council's operational needs and built a York hybrid farm for sales back into the grid. Warrington Borough Council is the first local authority in the United Kingdom to generate 100% of its own electricity.

Experienced designers, artists, and creators fill out a council survey for inclusion in the database. The Creative Practitioners Database enables participant communications about advice, mentoring, and potential collaborations. Council officials promote potential commissions, project funds, and cultural events on this free resource. Database members will also be asked for their input on the council's cultural policy.
