Melville, WA Smart Technology Council Buildings Energy Use
Melville officials partnered with ARNOWA on smart water and energy sensor installations across 20 council buildings. The project gathers real-time information from 9,000 data points. These data are fed into and analyzed by the ARNOWA CARBON cloud. The council works with Murdoch University to turn building data into resource management practices. Department leaders achieve decreased energy use and increased operational intelligence due to the smart grid project.

Melville was a finalist for the 2020 Future of Place Award from Smart Cities Council Australia New Zealand. The council won the Boosting Productivity through Infrastructure category at the 2021 National Awards for Local Government.
