City of Cape Town, WC invests in smart traffic management infrastructure for improved enforcement

City of Cape Town, WC Smart Traffic Infrastructure

Cape Town is working with Cepton and Fibre Based Integrations on a citywide lane enforcement system. Lidar sensors programmed with vehicle classification data are monitoring bus lanes for illegal use. Smart traffic infrastructure also allows the city to gather data on traffic volume, foot traffic in crosswalks, and other metrics. Targeted measures like light timing and lane enforcement can be applied from intersection to intersection using real-time data.
