Coquitlam, BC real-time parking availability digital signs

The City of Coquitlam created digital parking signage to display real-time parking availability. The signs use fiber optic technology to detect and display the exact number of empty parking spots. When the parking area is full the signs direct drivers to the nearest available parking area. The signs were designed to improve driver and pedestrian safety, reduce illegal parking, and improve traffic conditions.
