Newcastle, NSW Councils Curby Coffee Capsule Recycling Trial

Newcastle, Mosman, and Willoughby are working with iQ Renew to divert coffee capsules from landfills. Three thousand participants receive orange bags for aluminum capsule collection. The bags are placed in curbside recycling bins and sent to Nespresso by iQ Renew. Aluminum and coffee grounds are separated for reuse in capsule production and composting, respectively. This Australian-first trial is funded by Nespresso and allows an evaluation of new recycling methods by the councils.
