Calgary, Edmonton, and Alberta Ecotrust funded the creation of the Emissions-Neutral Buildings Information Exchange (ENBIX). This four-year project creates a central clearinghouse for low-carbon building practices shared by developers and builders across Alberta. Stakeholders in Calgary will implement ENBIX innovations through its Community of Practice. Additional ENBIX features include webinars, market research, and site visits.

Oxfordshire County Council, GB addresses growing source of waste with Recycle Your Vape program
Oxfordshire, Oxford City, and Cherwell received £40,000 from Material Focus as part of the organization's Recycle Your Electricals effort. Residents can dispose of their single-use vaping products at 60 hot-pink collection spots in local shops and bars. The initiative adds dedicated bins for vape collection at seven household waste recycling centres. Recycle Your Vape also offers kerbside collection of vapes in Cherwell alongside rubbish and recycling.

Syddjurs and four partner cities used artificial intelligence for a process mining initiative. Municipal data on unemployment benefits, city services, and department contacts resulted in maps of user experiences. The resulting platform recommends the optimal path for each resident's employment search based on predictive analytics. Participating municipalities received 4.1 million kroner from a national innovation fund for the project.

Aalborg and Rødovre spend 3,000 staff hours per year on planning rehabilitation paths for patients admitted to hospitals. A newly designed platform turns data on 18,000 past patients into insights on how future patients should be treated. Licensed clinicians review recommendations and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the platform. The municipalities received 5.9 million kroner from a national innovation fund for the project.

Council officials developed the guides in recognition of the lack of resources for apartment and townhome residents. A dedicated website walks users through the steps to installing solar in apartment buildings, state rebates, and other considerations. Two-page guides are available for townhomes along with low-rise, mid-rise, and high-rise apartments. Each guide explains how owners and tenants work together to achieve upgrades like centralized heat pumps, community gardens, and LED lighting.

Santa Barbara County, CA evaluates 3D printing for affordable home construction during pilot
The Santa Barbara County Association of Governments received a $375,000 state grant for a 3D-printed home in Goleta. Apis Cor will print walls with innovative robotic technology and install them on a standard foundation. The county's Housing Trust Fund will work with university researchers to compare the structure's environmental impacts with traditional construction. This trial seeks an option for mass home construction in a county with an average home cost of $870,000.

Victoria businesses using at least 500 mWh of electricity per year were recruited to the pilot group. A facilitator was selected to leverage the group's purchasing power for 100% renewable electricity contracts. Participating businesses benefitted from reputational boosts, reduced energy costs, and streamlined procurement processes. The Business Renewables Buying Group was led by Yarra in collaboration with Darebin, Melbourne, and Merri-bek councils.

Amsterdam's public health team determined one-fifth of city residents experienced excessive noise from motorcycles and cars. Noise detection sensors were placed at locations throughout both cities for the summer pilot. Vehicle noise exceeding the sensor's tolerance triggers a digital sign saying "Too Loud." Local officials will not issue tickets during the trial, instead using sensor data in determining the effectiveness of raised awareness on noise levels.

London Borough of Merton, GB takes lead on world-first low-emission zone for construction vehicles
The borough-led Cleaner Construction for London project established a zone for non-road mobile machinery (NRMM). Regulated machinery such as generators and excavators with outputs of 37 to 560 kilowatts are regularly evaluated for compliance. There is an online registry for NRMMs and new vehicles must meet emission requirements prior to use. The gradual rollout of the NRMM zone encouraged competition among bidding contractors to achieve lower emission levels.

Willoughby, NSW builds community among high-rise apartment residents with Hi Neighbours program
The Hi Neighbours pilot recruited residents in five high-rise apartments for eight months of events. Participating buildings were eligible for activity reimbursements worth up to 300 AUD funded by New South Wales. A 34-page Meet Your Neighbour toolkit suggested community events and offered best practices for inclusive communities. Additional resources like event planning and calling card templates empowered residents in their community-building efforts.

Bathurst Regional, NSW collaborates with state government on Spatial Digital Twin development
The state's Spatial Services team gathered aerial footage for the first-in-region digital twin. The 3D representation of Bathurst covers four million square meters with a two-centimeter resolution. Nine map layers provide location-specific data on fuel prices, EV charging stations, property sales, and disabled parking. Bathurst Regional and NSW are evaluating community feedback as they develop additional functionalities for the twin.

Collie, WA converts household and forest waste into energy with its new Resource Recovery Centre
Collie's collaboration with Renergi resulted in a waste-to-energy facility within its landfill. Household, forest, and agriculture waste will be converted into byproducts like biochar and wood vinegar for local industries. The Resource Recovery Centre can process 1.5 tons of waste per hour with an emission savings of up to 18,000 tons per year. An estimated 12,000 tons of waste will be diverted from landfills each year and help Collie transition away from coal-fired power plants by 2030.
