Zürich, CH evaluates the impacts of automated misting on heat island effects with Alto Zürrus pilot
A metal ring placed in the center of the Turbinenplatz automatically sprays mist on hot days. Water particles are fine enough to evaporate before reaching passersby but reduce air temperatures by 10 degrees Celsius. Municipal officials are evaluating the effectiveness and reach of the automated mister during a two-year pilot. Alto Zürrus was financed by a 140,000 CHF loan from the Zürich Smart City fund and complements long-term climate change mitigation efforts like tree planting.
