The City of Boston is enacting a new ordinance which will allow home cooks to obtain residential kitchen permits. The new law will permit home cooks to make and sell "cottage food" out of their own kitchens. The term "cottage food" refers to food that doesn't easily spoil such as pastries, tortillas, dried fruit, pasta, cakes, granola, etc. Applicants will have to take a safety course and receive allergens awareness training to receive a license from the city.
