Platypus Pals started with volunteer collections of environmental DNA (eDNA) from the Upper Georges River. These samples identified small populations of platypus and Macquarie perch threatened by human activities. Campbelltown placed signs near habitats identified by eDNA with tips on protecting wildlife. Platypus Pals continues through community use of the PlatypuSPOT monitoring app and workshops about platypus conservation.

Local officials approved 42 CleanCUBE bins for placement throughout Campbelltown. Each CleanCUBE stores up to 240 liters of waste and uses a solar-powered compactor for more efficient storage. Built-in sensors communicate with waste management teams for on-demand collection. Five CleanCUBE units on Queen Street contribute to the On Q rejuvenation program with reduced collection vehicle traffic and litter.

Campbelltown, NSW adopts process for turning building waste into recycled parking lot surfaces
The city's asset rejuvenation initiative includes transforming trail concrete and building waste into recycled surfacing. A former quarry was turned into a processing area for the repurposed materials. Campbelltown used the recycled road surface when renewing lots at Victoria Park, Eschol Park Sports Complex, and other public properties. This project saved Campbelltown $100,000 in new material costs and reduced emissions from standard surfacing practices.

Campbelltown, NSW improves air quality with Breathing Wall pilot
The Breathing Wall is a 40-meter structure built from vertical plant modules. Campbelltown worked with Junglefy to customize the wall for the high-traffic Campbelltown Station area. Collected stormwater from the nearby precinct was used to keep plants alive. City officials partnered with the University of Technology Sydney for air quality analysis during the six-month pilot.
